Sarah Nicholson M.S., MFT

Sarah Nicholson is a U.K. citizen with a Masters in counseling from Cal State University, Northridge. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice and has been treating clients with eating disorders and addictions for 12 years, both individually and in groups. Sarah also brings extensive experience from eating disorder treatment facilities to the PCI team.

Her approach views addiction and eating disorders as attempts to regulate a nervous system distressed by negative life events. She uses positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, meditation, motivational interviewing, and assertiveness training to empower clients to notice their own physical and emotional needs. The key focus of her Mindfulness group is to provide education, guidance and tools to regulate emotion. She counters the damaging messages of diet culture with the wisdom of intuitive eating and movement practices. She welcomes diversity of body, race and sexuality and is sensitive to our cultural need for inclusivity.
