PCI hosted an in-person holiday breakfast for clinicians, bringing together colleagues for a morning of networking, conversation, and reflection. The gathering marked a decade of community, collaboration, and clinical excellence, while also creating space to exchange ideas and help shape future presentation and professional development topics.

This year marks 10 years of PCI! We celebrated with colleagues and friends over great conversations, food, and refreshments. We are so overwhelmed with gratitude for the ability to provide treatment and care to our community for the last decade. We look forward to continued collaboration, growth, and success.

Westlake Village Facility | October 2023 PCI’s executive director, Dr. Miriam Hamideh and the PCI Team hosted an evening building valuable relationships, sharing knowledge, and enjoying a delicious meal with our community of mental health professionals. At PCI, it is a part of our mission to connect and strengthen our community to better serve those in need.

“The Psychology of Uncertainty” LACPA Office | June 2023 Dr. Hamideh presented her 2023 presidential talk for the Los Angeles County Psychological Association on the “Psychology of Uncertainty.” Dr. Miriam addressed the long-term changes in the field of psychology and society at large since the onset of the pandemic, while also discussing current trends in substance use and mental illness, and her near 30 years of experience dealing with these challenging conditions. LACPA members were invited to eat dinner and discuss Dr. Miriam’s presidential theme “Creative Resilience: Harnessing Uncertainty to Achieve Balance,” where they participated in a highly engaging and insightful collective discussion.

“Substance Use Disorders & Working Professionals” Westlake Village Inn November 2022 PCI partnered with the Meadows Malibu for an innovative presentation on addiction in working professionals. Our medical director, Dr. Joshua Diamond discussed the history of addiction, and how laws, medical practice, and social stigma created much of the infrastructure around substance use we see today during his presentation, “Substance Use Disorders among the Upper Middle Class: An unexpectedly underserved population.” In Dr. Michel Sucher’s presentation, “Impaired Health Professionals: Diagnosis, Treatment, Reentry,” he shares several case studies and personal experiences with health professionals unique battles with substance use and how it can be treated. Attendees earned continued education (CE) credits for attending the presentation.

Westlake Village, CA | June 2019 PCI’s 2019 Open House celebrated 5 years of our work and growth and our move to a new location. Clinicians, colleagues, friends, and family were all invited to network and explore the new facility while enjoying hors d'oeuvres.

“Addiction in Midlife: Why Otherwise Healthy Professionals Abuse Drugs” Hyatt Regency Westlake | 2019 Our community of mental health professionals were invited to join our panel discussion on the prevalence of addiction in middle aged adults. In addition to discussing the different factors that contribute to the development and normalization of substance use, our medical director discussed the history of addiction from both a medical and sociological lens.

“Interpersonal Neurobiology: The Science Connecting Addiction and Trauma” The Westlake Village Inn | 2018 In November 2018, PCI hosted an educational event in partnership with Launch Centers. Colleagues and friends joined us at the Westlake Village Inn for dinner and a presentation on the effects of trauma and its correlation with substance use disorder. Attendees also earned continued education (CE) credits for attending.

“Interpersonal Neurobiology: The Science Connecting Addiction and Trauma” Hotel del Coronado | April 2018 PCI was invited to speak at the Innovations in Recovery Conference in 2018 at the Coronado Hotel in Coronado, San Diego, CA. Here, Dr. Hamideh presents a clinical case on attachment style and parenting.

The Neuroscience of the Opiate System & Affect Dysregulation | January 2018 In January 2018, PCI hosted an educational event on the opioid crisis. We went through the mechanisms of the brain, and thus how opioids affect regulation and dysregulation in distinct ways. The event was open to our community of mental health professionals, and dinner was served.

“Understanding the Opioid Epidemic” Malibu, CA | 2017 PCI hosted a breakfast for mental health professionals in the community at PCI’s Malibu office. Our doctors presented on the opioid epidemic and how clinicians can understand and address its effects in their practice. Attendees were invited to network with other professionals while enjoying an array of breakfast treats and a beautiful ocean view.

Westlake Village | February 2015 In 2015, PCI opened its doors in Westlake Village, CA. Our first open house invited mental health professionals in the community along with family and friends. This was the first of many networking and community events PCI hosted, offering hors devours and activities for colleagues to connect.
